In action
The Standard Fit was developed for dogs with regular body proportions and is available in eight sizes for small, medium and large dog breeds.
To find the right size, you need your dog's back length and chest girth.
Measure the back length from the base of the neck to the base of the tail while your dog is standing relaxed and straight. Measure the chest girth at the widest point directly behind the front legs. The tape measure should lie snugly against the body without cutting in.
If your dog is between two sizes, we generally recommend the larger size.
| Size | Back length | Chest girth | Example breeds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 to 27 cm | 34 to 42 cm | Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Toy Poodle, Papillon |
| 2 | 26 to 33 cm | 40 to 50 cm | Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, Miniature Pinscher, Maltese |
| 3 | 32 to 39 cm | 48 to 58 cm | Pug, Jack Russell Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Border Terrier |
| 4 | 38 to 45 cm | 56 to 66 cm | Beagle, English Cocker Spaniel, Whippet, Sheltie |
| 5 | 44 to 51 cm | 64 to 74 cm | Border Collie, Standard Schnauzer, Australian Shepherd (female) |
| 6 | 50 to 57 cm | 72 to 82 cm | Labrador Retriever, Boxer, Hungarian Vizsla, Golden Retriever (female) |
| 7 | 56 to 64 cm | 80 to 90 cm | Golden Retriever (male), Dobermann, Rhodesian Ridgeback |
| 8 | 62 to 70 cm | 88 to 100 cm | Bernese Mountain Dog, German Shepherd, Rottweiler (female), Hovawart |
The example breeds are for guidance only. What matters is your dog's back length and chest girth.
If your dog has a particularly long back in relation to its chest girth, the Dachshund Fit may be a better choice.
